I am a Survivor - White Ribbon Day

The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement of men and boys working to end male violence against women and girls. It was formed by a group of pro-feminist men in London, Ontario in November 1991 as a response to the École Polytechnique massacre of female students by Marc Lépine in 1989.

The statistics are appauling. In 2019 almost a third (30%) of all homicide and related offences were family and domestic violence (FDV) related (125 victims). Personally faced with Strangulation offending, attempted manslaughter offending and entrapment, coercive powers/Financial abuse I first hand understand the dangers, fears and destructiveness of Domestic violence. A cultural shift on attitudes towards Domestic violence, male and female, a necessity for change.

White Ribbon Australia is a part of a global social movement working to eliminate gendered violence. We strive for an Australian society where all women and children are safe.

White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement engaging men and boys to end men’s violence against women and girls, promote gender equality and create new opportunities for men to build positive, healthy and respectful relationships.

The White Ribbon Australia movement works through a primary prevention approach in communities, schools and workplaces across the country. Through our programs and campaigns, we engage with men to become active in the social change needed to stop men’s violence against women and children.
