"victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance"
Diwali is a festival of lights mainly celebrated by Hindus - my Indian Heritage and Title homage.
The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance"
Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana.
The 14 candles lit for Diwali in celebration of the victory representing these 14 years.
Happy Diwali. Love and Hearty Best wishes, Princess Marcia.
