Health Minister Orders Investigation into SA Prison Healthcare

If you have followed my journey, from UGLY HEROS - The Price of Unlawful Enforcement to Political Prisoner #192703, you know that I do not tolerate institutional overreach. When the state takes away a person’s liberty, it assumes an absolute duty of care over their well-being.

Unfortunately, in South Australia, that duty of care is currently being compromised.

For months, I have been compiling a legal and medical policy brief exposing a critical human rights violation within our correctional facilities: the systemic denial of TGA-approved, non-intoxicating CBD oil to inmates suffering from severe PTSD and chronic pain. Under the internationally recognized principle of "Equivalence of Care," state wards are entitled to the exact same standard of medical treatment as the broader community. Yet, prison administrators are frequently overriding the prescriptions of treating doctors, forcing vulnerable people into abrupt medical withdrawal.

I took this fight straight to the top, and today, the campaign gained major ground.

I received official correspondence from the SA Minister for Health, Hon Chris Picton MP. Acknowledging that the state government is currently operating under caretaker conventions ahead of tomorrow's election, Minister Picton took decisive action. He has officially referred my correspondence to Ms Emma McCahon, the Chief Executive Officer of the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN)—the body responsible for SA Prison Health Services.

The Minister has explicitly requested that the CEO investigate the matters I raised and contact me directly regarding the findings.

This is a massive step forward. It means the bureaucratic runaround stops here. The issue is no longer just a complaint; it is a formal investigation ordered by a Minister and sitting squarely on the desk of the Chief Executive.

As a law student and advocate, I am preparing to present my full policy brief and the results of my ongoing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests to the incoming government next week. True rehabilitation requires stabilization. It requires modern, non-addictive medicine. It requires healing beyond judgment.

This fight is just getting started.

To support the campaign and learn more about the dangers of institutional bias, grab a copy of one of my books, available now at leading bookstores.
